Why glycolic acid?
Glycolic acid has the smallest molecule of all the alpha hydroxy acids, so it gets to work quickly. It loosens the dead skin cells that pile up on the surface and inside pores, which is exactly what leads to blackheads, whiteheads, and that rough, bumpy feeling. Regular exfoliation also helps skin reflect light more evenly, so it looks brighter and smoother.

How to use
In the evening, apply 1 pump (new packaging) or 2 pumps (older packaging) all over clean, dry skin or to areas of concern. Follow with moisturizer. Start every other night and build up as your skin adjusts. A light tingle is normal.
Important: AHAs can increase sun sensitivity. Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day.
Building your routine
A simple evening routine with this serum looks like this:
- Cleanse with a gentle cleanser like Ultra Gentle Cleanser.
- Treat with 5% Glycolic Serum on clean, dry skin.
- Hydrate with a non-clogging moisturizer such as Hydrabalance Hydrating Gel or Clearderma.
In the morning, finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen like Daily SPF 30 Lotion.
Esthetician tip
Avoid using several strong exfoliants on the same night. If your routine also includes a toner with acids, a scrub, or vitamin A, ask us at your next appointment how to schedule them.
How is this different from a mandelic serum?
Glycolic acid is a smaller molecule that works faster, which makes it great for smoothing texture and clearing non-inflamed congestion. Mandelic acid absorbs more slowly and is often a gentler choice for sensitive skin or red, inflamed breakouts. We can help you choose, or show you how to use both.
How long until I see results?
Many people notice smoother, brighter skin within a couple of weeks. Clearing blackheads and bumpy congestion usually takes several weeks of consistent use.
Is it okay for sensitive skin?
Glycolic acid can be more stimulating than larger-molecule acids. Start every other night, and if you notice lasting redness or stinging, scale back and talk with us.
How long does a bottle last?
It's a 1 oz bottle, and you only need 1 to 2 pumps per use, so it goes a long way. How long it lasts depends on how often you use it.
Can I use it while pregnant or nursing?
Please check with your healthcare provider before starting any new active skincare during pregnancy or nursing.
