Face Reality 8% L-Mandelic Serum is the next step up in Face Reality's mandelic acid line. It's strong enough to make a real difference in clogged pores, breakouts, and uneven texture, yet still gentle enough for most skin types to use every night.
Why mandelic acid?
Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) made from bitter almonds. Its larger molecule size lets it penetrate the skin slowly and evenly, so you get effective exfoliation with far less irritation than acids like glycolic. It's a great choice for acne-prone skin and all skin tones. This serum pairs the "chirally correct" forms of L-mandelic acid and L-lactic acid, the versions your skin uses most efficiently.

How to use
In the evening, apply 1 pump (new packaging) or 2 pumps (older packaging) all over clean, dry skin or to areas of concern. Follow with your moisturizer. If you're stepping up from the 5%, start every other night for the first week. A light tingle is normal.
Important: AHAs can increase sun sensitivity. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day while using this product.
Building your routine
A simple evening routine with this serum looks like this:
- Cleanse with a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser like Ultra Gentle Cleanser.
- Tone (optional) with Moisture Balance Toner to add a layer of hydration.
- Treat with 8% Mandelic Serum on clean, dry skin.
- Hydrate with Hydrabalance Hydrating Gel or your favorite non-clogging moisturizer.
In the morning, finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen like Daily SPF 30 Lotion.

How long until I see results?
Many people notice softer, smoother skin within the first couple of weeks. Fewer clogged pores and a more even tone usually take several weeks of consistent use as skin turns over.
Should I start with the 5% or the 8%?
If you're brand new to acids or have sensitive or dry skin, start with the 5%. If you have normal to combination skin or have used acids before, the 8% is often a comfortable place to begin.
When should I move up to 11%?
Once your skin handles the 8% nightly with no irritation and you still want more results, the 11% may be the next step. We're happy to help you decide.
Can I use it with other actives?
Mandelic acid works well alongside many acne treatments, but layering too many exfoliants can over-dry skin. If you use a retinoid, benzoyl peroxide, or another acid, ask us how to schedule them.
Can I use it while pregnant or nursing?
Please check with your healthcare provider before starting any new active skincare during pregnancy or nursing.
