Why detox your scalp?

How to use
Shampoo first, ideally with Surface Awaken Therapeutic Shampoo. Then apply a generous amount of Scalp Detox directly to the scalp and massage it in for about one minute using your fingertips. Rinse thoroughly, then condition and style as usual. Surface says it can be used as often as desired. Most people find once a week to a few times a month is plenty.

Part your hair into sections and apply the detox along each part line so it reaches the scalp instead of sitting on your hair. How often should I use it?
Surface says it can be used as often as desired. We usually suggest starting once a week and adjusting from there. Oily scalps and heavy product users may like it more often, while dry or sensitive scalps may prefer less.
Will charcoal stain my hair or towel?
Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. A good rinse is all you need.
Is it gentle enough for a sensitive scalp?
It contains mint and capsicum, which create a tingle. Start slowly and skip it on irritated, sunburned or broken skin. If your scalp burns or turns red, rinse it off and stop using it.
Is it sulfate free?
Retailer listings describe the formula as free of sulfates, parabens, gluten and phthalates. Check the bottle for the full ingredient list.
Will it help with flakes?
Exfoliation helps lift away dry flakes and buildup. Flaking that keeps coming back, or that comes with redness, itching or scaling, should be checked by a dermatologist.
