An oil-based serum for thicker, fuller-looking textured hair
Actiiv Thickening Hair Serum is formulated to support the appearance of thicker, fuller-looking hair. Its plant-based, oil-based formula helps reduce the look of breakage and strengthen the hair shaft, while adding hydration, shine and softness. Use it daily to maintain the appearance of denser, healthier-looking hair. It works well as a standalone product or as a complement to the Recover System, and is best suited for textured and frizzy hair.
Why oil-based?
Actiiv makes its thickening serum in two versions: a water-based formula for normal to fine or low-density hair, and this oil-based formula for textured hair. Textured, curly and coily hair tends to be drier because natural scalp oils have a harder time traveling down the hair shaft. An oil-based serum adds nourishment and slip while it works at the scalp, without leaving hair feeling stripped.
Who it's for
Anyone with textured, curly, coily or frizz-prone hair who wants hair to look fuller and denser, especially along the hairline and edges, or who is dealing with breakage from styling, tension or dryness. If you have fine or low-density hair, the water-based Actiiv Thickening Hair Serum may be the better match.
Key ingredients
- Castor seed oil: a rich plant oil long used in hair care to condition the scalp and hair.
- Castor oil: naturally rich in fatty acids that help keep hair soft and moisturized.
- Caprylic/capric triglyceride: a lightweight, coconut-derived emollient that enhances softness and helps reduce tangling and dryness.
The formula is vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free. It comes in a 55ml (1.8 oz) dropper bottle.
How to use
- Use once daily, morning or evening, on dry or damp, towel-dried hair.
- Part the hair and apply the dropper directly to the scalp, focusing on thinning areas and the hairline.
- Gently massage in with your fingertips.
- Do not rinse.

Esthetician tip

How long until I see a difference?
Hair grows slowly, so this is a long-term routine. Plan on consistent daily use for several months before judging results. Softness and shine are usually noticeable much sooner.
Will it make my hair greasy?
It's applied to the scalp in small amounts and is made for textured hair, which usually welcomes the extra moisture. If your roots feel heavy, use a little less or apply it in the evening.
Can I use it with braids, locs or protective styles?
Yes. The dropper makes it easy to apply directly to the scalp between parts.
Do I need to wash it out?
No, it's a leave-in serum. Just wash your hair as you normally would on wash day.
Can I use it while pregnant or nursing?
Please check with your healthcare provider before starting new products during pregnancy or nursing.
