Colorescience Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Face Shield Matte SPF 50 is a lightweight mineral sunscreen made for oily and blemish-prone skin. It absorbs excess oil, blurs the look of pores, and leaves a modern matte finish, while EnviroScreen® Technology defends against UV rays, pollution, blue light, and infrared.

Who it's for
Normal, oily, combination, and blemish-prone skin. It's especially flattering on medium to deep skin tones.

- Zinc oxide 12%: all-mineral broad-spectrum protection.
- Silicone powder: absorbs oil and minimizes the look of pores.
- Niacinamide: supports the skin barrier.
- Silver ear mushroom extract: lightweight hydration.
- LIPOCHROMAN™, vitamin E, and InfraGuard: defend against pollution and infrared.
- Iron oxides: help protect against blue light.
How to use
Apply at least a nickel-sized amount evenly over the face as the last step of your morning routine. Wear alone, mix with other Face Shields, or layer under makeup. Touch up the T-zone as needed and reapply every two hours.

Building your routine
Face Shield Matte is the last step of your morning skincare:
- Cleanse with Barrier Pro 1-Step Cleanser.
- Hydrate with a lightweight moisturizer like Barrier Pro™ Essential Moisturizer. Oily skin still needs hydration.
- Protect with Face Shield Matte SPF 50.
- Touch up during the day with Sunforgettable® Total Protection™ Brush-On Shield SPF 50 in Sheer Matte.
Esthetician tip
If you get oily by midday, blot first, then dust on powder sunscreen. Blotting removes excess oil so your touch-up goes on evenly instead of getting patchy.
Will it clog my pores?
It's non-comedogenic and made for oily and blemish-prone skin. Cleanse thoroughly every night to remove sunscreen and makeup.
Does oily skin really need moisturizer under sunscreen?
Usually, yes. Skin that's dehydrated can look shinier because it tries to compensate. A lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer keeps the barrier healthy, and the matte sunscreen on top keeps shine in check.
Can I wear it under makeup?
Yes. The matte, pore-blurring finish works as a primer. You can also mix it with other Face Shields, such as Face Shield Flex SPF 50 for more coverage.
How often should I reapply?
Every two hours when you're outdoors, and after swimming or sweating. It's water and sweat resistant for 40 minutes.
What's the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreen?
Mineral sunscreens use filters like zinc oxide that sit on the skin's surface. They're generally well tolerated by sensitive skin, and many of our acne-prone clients prefer how they feel.
Will it leave a white cast?
It blends sheer across skin tones and is especially flattering on medium to deep skin.
Can I use it if I'm on acne treatments?
Yes. Many acne routines, including exfoliating acids and retinoids, make daily sun protection even more important. A lightweight, non-comedogenic mineral sunscreen is a comfortable choice. If you're in our Acne Boot Camp program or using prescription products, we'll help you fit it into your plan.
