GlyMed Plus Glycolic Facial Cleanser with 10% Glycolic Acid is a paraben-free cleanser that jumpstarts skin cell turnover, promoting the natural shedding process (desquamation) and helping the products that follow absorb better. Glycolic acid helps smooth the look of aging, keep pores clear, even tone, and brighten the skin. This cleanser provides anti-aging and exfoliation benefits and is gentle enough for many sensitive skin types.

Why glycolic acid?

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. It has the smallest molecule of the AHAs, so it works efficiently to loosen the dead cells that make skin look dull and rough. In a cleanser, it gives you a gentle daily dose of exfoliation that is rinsed off after a short contact time, which is a nice way to get the benefits of an acid without leaving it on the skin all day.

How to use

Dispense one pump and work it into a foam with a little water. Gently massage over the face, avoiding the eye area, then rinse with tepid water and pat dry. GlyMed generally recommends it once a day, adjusting up or down based on how your skin tolerates it. It works best as your second cleanse, after makeup has been removed, and it should not be used as an eye makeup remover. A light tingle is normal.

Important: AHAs can increase sun sensitivity. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day while using this product.

Can I use it every day?
Once a day is the usual starting point. If your skin starts feeling tight, dry, or sensitive, cut back to every other day, or alternate with a gentle non-acid cleanser.

Can I use it with retinol or other acids?
Be careful about stacking exfoliants. If you also use a retinoid, an acid serum, or exfoliating pads, you may want to use this cleanser only in the morning. Ask us to help you balance your actives.

Is it okay for darker skin tones?
Yes, with a slow start. Irritation is what can lead to dark marks, so build up gradually and keep up daily sunscreen.

Can I use it on my body?
Many people like a glycolic cleanser on areas like the chest and back. Apply the same sun protection rules to any area you exfoliate.

Should I use it before waxing or a facial?
Skip it for a few days before waxing, dermaplaning, or a professional peel, and do not restart until your skin has fully settled afterward. We'll tell you the timing at your appointment.

Can I use it while pregnant or nursing?
Please check with your healthcare provider before starting any new active skincare during pregnancy or nursing.
