Face Reality 5% Advanced Acne Med is a water-based benzoyl peroxide gel that penetrates the pore to fight acne-causing bacteria, clear clogs, and help keep pores from clogging again. It's a balanced, everyday strength for normal to oily skin with active breakouts.
Why benzoyl peroxide?
Benzoyl peroxide releases oxygen inside the pore, where acne bacteria can't survive. It also helps loosen the buildup that leads to clogged pores. It's one of the most trusted, effective treatments for inflamed acne.

How to use
After cleansing, toning, and any serum, apply a thin layer over the affected area or the full face if directed. Let it dry for about a minute before moisturizer. If you're new to this strength, start every other day and build to daily.
Good to know: Benzoyl peroxide can bleach fabrics, so use white pillowcases and towels. Some dryness is normal; a barrier-supporting moisturizer helps.
Building your routine
Acne Med is usually the last treatment step before moisturizer. A typical evening routine looks like this:
- Cleanse with an acne-safe cleanser like Acne Face and Body Wash.
- Treat with a mandelic serum such as 8% Mandelic Serum if it's part of your plan, then apply a thin layer of 5% Acne Med once the serum has absorbed.
- Hydrate with a lightweight, non-clogging moisturizer such as Hydrabalance Hydrating Gel.
In the morning, finish with a broad-spectrum sunscreen like Mineral Matte SPF28.
Esthetician tip
If skin gets dry or flaky, don't stop. Scale back to every other day and add a hydrating step like Hydrabalance underneath your moisturizer.
How long until I see results?
Some people notice calmer breakouts within a couple of weeks, but most need several weeks of consistent daily use to see a real difference. Breakouts may still pop up along the way, which is normal.
Should I start with 2.5% or 5%?
If your skin is dry, mature, sensitive, or new to benzoyl peroxide, start with the 2.5%. If your skin is normal to oily and has handled benzoyl peroxide before, 5% is a good everyday strength.
Should I spot-treat or apply it all over?
Because breakouts form under the skin before you can see them, a thin layer over the whole breakout-prone area usually works better than dotting individual spots.
Can I use it with mandelic acid?
Yes, many acne routines pair the two. If your skin gets dry or irritated, we can help you adjust how often you use each one.
Can I use it while pregnant or nursing?
Please check with your healthcare provider before using benzoyl peroxide or any active skincare during pregnancy or nursing.
